glimpse overview
Workbench’s new partition range Glimpse invites the user to adapt their workspace for the different requirements throughout the day. Providing flexible screening in open plan areas that allows your space to be partitioned or open by simply turning the rotating fins. The fins are manually operated transforming your surroundings, from being a light and airy when fully open, to providing zones of independent working and private meetings when fully closed.
design brief
Workbench developed Glimpse with a brief to create a beautiful partition with a low carbon footprint, using simple mechanisms and standard timber sections. Part of the design challenge was to create something bespoke whilst utilising as many universal sections sizes and fixing details as possible to maximise the capabilities in a range of materials.
features & finishes
Manually rotating fins constructed in solid timber or a coloured lacquer finish utilising mechanical fixings with replaceable parts for extended lifespan. This simple method of construction is optimal for transporting the product from our UK workshops to site.
sustainability
Glimpse has been designed in hardwearing solid oak using standard sections that maximise the use of the timber. The function of the design allows for a range of thicknesses from 18mm to 25mm to be used, providing an opportunity to introduce a wide range of sustainable materials into the design to suit a clients requirements.
environmental impact
At Workbench we calculate our carbon footprint for scope 1, 2 & full scope 3. All our products are designed to meet our waste hierarchy policy of reduce, reuse, repurpose & recycle. Workbench is in a unique position to be able to design for reuse at the start of a products life and Glimpse encapsulates this.

scope
Visual partition systems for scene creation.
Workbench designed Glimpse to provide quick and simple privacy in open plan spaces and meeting areas. The fins are manually operated transforming your surroundings, from being light and airy when fully open, to providing zones of independent working and private meetings when fully closed. Glimpse has been used in the workbench showroom to allow users to viualise meeting spaces and create scenes withint the showroom space. Glimpse was designed for this project as a flexible partitions system so can easily be moved and reused through a building. We considered the materiality of the unit to meet with our Carbon foot printing journey and goals to design and manufacture furniture that has a low carbon impact and high reuse and recyclability.
